    Set-up your Shop

Setting up the shop involves creating the shop's identity, communication channels, and listings for your products.  The tabs below provide a quick overview.  Don't be overwhelmed with the number of windows, most shops will only need to complete the first two tabs and the media tab. The fourth tab, Pick-up Address, and the sixth tab, collections, are not needed at this time.  They will be covered in a separate tutorial.  A video tutorial demonstrating the use of the system is available in our partner support area.

1 Log In

After you have logged into your account on Concordia Market use the Dashboard option in the dropdown menu to go the seller's dashboard.

2 Manage

Select the "Manage Shop" option in your seller dashboard.

3- General

The general tab is used to provide the system with the name of your shop and contact information used by the system and your customers.

4- Language

The language tab allows you to modify your shop's labels based on the users language selection.   The window below is set for English.  To provide Spanish speaking users a Spanish translation of the shop's descriptions and policies, select Spanish from the dropdown menu, and enter the Spanish texts in the appropriate boxes.

5- Address

The return address tab is used by the shipper to calculate shipping and produce return labels. You will note that there are two tabs.  The General tab provides the basic information and the language tab provides language specific labels.

7- Media

The Media tab allows the shop owner to customize the shop with branding and icons.  The banner tool enables the shop to configure three unique shop banners based on the device used to view Concordia Market.  The following are recommended banner dimensions:
Desktop: 2000 x 500
Tablet: 1024 x 360
Phone: 640 x 360

9- Social Links

The Social Media tab enables the shop owner to add social media links to their shop listings. The links allow customers to interact via social media.

  • 3

    Add products to the shop.

The processes for adding products to your shop vary with the type of product that is to be added.  Clothing items might include color and size variations.  Digital downloads might be ebooks, music, or video and include preview files.  Shop owners offering services upload content that will facilitate the development of a relationship with new customers.  Shops specializing in experiences will off event packages.

The Concordia Market framework allows shop owners to create product listings one at a time or bulk, uploading products from a previous online store.  While the process has a learning curve, we are more than ready to walk with you through the process.  Our shop partners' support site includes training video, step-by-step tutorials, and support documents.

Personal Safety When Meeting Members in Person

For your own protection, we encourage you to keep all communication and transactions on Concordia Market. That way, in the unlikely event that a transaction does not go as planned, you will have a record of what happened.

Remember that most Concordia Market transactions should take place either online. If someone is asking you to meet them outside of these circumstances, make sure you understand the reasons why such a meeting is necessary.

If you do meet other members in person, please consider the following safety tips:

  1. Always meet in a well-lit, public place—during daylight hours if possible.
  2. Do not go to a secluded place or a member's home, and do not invite a stranger into your home.
  3. If possible, get to know the member through their public profile information on Concordia Market, such as the About section of their shop homepage and any linked social media or websites.
  4. Bring someone with you.
  5. Tell a friend or family member where you are going.
  6. Keep your cell phone on you.
  7. Trust your instincts. If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.

    Introducing

    Concordia Square Project Teams

We value the content provided to Concordia Market by the shop owners and Shared Content contributors.  We seek to add value to their contributions and the mission work of ministries and individuals by developing quality target specific content to be offered on Concordia Market.  The Concordia Square is our "publishing" entity that supports the work of our content teams.  Our projects include curriculum for VBS programs and Day Schools, as well as ministry resources and small group content.

Each team consists of an editorial group, writers, and graphic/media artists. Team members are rarely paid for their work on a project. This is the only way that we can provide content at no cost to the user. In some cases we are able to gather enough funding to provide a small stipend which is shared equally among the team members.  The writers and media artists retain the rights to their work and may use their individual contributions for other projects.

    Five Reasons Why

    • 1
It is a great service to God's church.

When you collaborate as a member of one of our project teams, you are contributing to the health and vitality of ministries and people who use the resources.  The resources by the project teams are responsive to modern mission challenges and provide user-friendly and engaging content in support of ministry and mission.

    • 2
You contribute to something valuable for the Church at large.

The content created by the project teams are available to ministries around the world.  By being part of a team effort, your contribution is amplified and the impact can have a global impact.

    • 3
You get to work with some amazing people.

The project team is an inter-disciplinarian team.  In other words, writers, editors, media artists work together to develop the resource and map out the content.  We believe this inter-disciplinarian approach to content creation helps to ensure that there is an organic, broad perspective in the final product. As important, our teams are made-up of young and old, city dwellers, and country folks. The organic flow and variety of perspectives will be engaging to a broader spectrum of people.

    • 4
You are able to build-out your portfolio.

The content you produce as part of the project team can serve as an artifact in your professional portfolio.  A portfolio demonstrating recent work on commercial projects can open greater opportunities in your career field.  Media organizations are looking for creators who have experience working in a inter-disciplinarian collaborative team environment.

    • 5
You are able to use your gifts for the glory of God.

Perhaps you had a passion for art or writing as a child, but the reality of needing to pay bills took you down a different career path.  Perhaps, you've always wanted to be a writer, a producer, a videographer, or a graphic artist, but lack the opportunity to do something  meaningful.  Whatever, the case, participating in a project team gives you an opportunity to use your gifts and you passions to accomplish amazing things.

    Share Your Content

    Table of Contents
Add a header to begin generating the table of contents

      What is Shared Content?

We built Concordia Market to facilitate the free sharing of ideas and resources to advance God's mission.  However, we know that opening a shop on Concordia Market may not make sense for everyone, so we have developed an alternative called Shared Content.  The Shared Content process is an online tool that includes:

      • a form in which the user verifies owners of the resource outlines directives for its inclusion in the catalog of Concordia Market, and
      • a file upload tool for submitting the resource files.

Once the files are received, our editors and reviewers will use the directives included with the submission and our publication guidelines to evaluate and prepare the resource for publication. The resource will not be included without the final approval of the owner. As with the operation of Concordia Market, Concordia Square publishing does not charge for its editing service, nor will it charge users to download the resources from the store.

      Five Reasons Why

      • 1
It is a great service to God's church.

When you open a shop on Concordia Market, you give the larger church body access to the resources you've developed.  Your resources will add value to our user's ministry as they are used.

      • 2
        Sharing content is an easy.

Sharing content is super easy.  Just choose the share resource option on the Concordia Marketplace website, fill out the directives form, add the media files, and submit.  We will review the submission and contact you within five days.

      • 3
        Sharing content can be anonymous.

Sometimes, people can be very judgmental; oops, I guess I proved the point.  No one has the time or the desire to deal with anonymous emails, expressing concern over issues on which God's Word is silent.  We hope that doesn't happen, but we know that some people are hesitant to share their content because they fear criticism.  If it is the desire of the content owner, we can anonymize the material we submitted for distribution.

      • 4
You remain in control of your content.

The content owners retain full rights to their work.  While we cannot ask for those who have purchased or downloaded the resource to return it, we can pull the resource from the Market inventory when asked to do so by the owner.

      • 5
Sharing resources on Concordia Market is free.

You don't pay anything to have your resources added to Concordia Market.  Concordia Square Publishing and Concordia Market will not charge users of the Market a fee for resources provided to us from Shared content.

      Frequently Asked Questions

The owner is identified by the person who submits the resource to Concordia Square Publishing.  The owner retains rights to the resource.

We will produce an anonymous report each year for Shared Content contributors.  We will create a report for each contributor upon request.

We are willing to look at any resource that is submitted.  We particularly value resources that approach ministry from a mission perspective.  We cannot accept content that the contributor does not have a clear legal right to share.

The person making the submission outlines what rights they confer to the editors through directives detailed with the submission.  We will not violate the directives.  However, if we believe a resource has value and could be improved with editing prior to publication, we will contact the owner for approval of the changes.  If permission is not granted, the editors will determine if the unedited resource can be added or returned to the owner.

Please visit the submission page.  It contains instructions, the directives form, and the upload tools. You may also contact us via email at: support@concordiamarketplace.com.
